Any guess?

What was your first thought when you saw this?

Bet not what it actually is. Inspired by the Tudor style, this building was built between 1878 and 1884. It is the Prison of Saint Gilles. The prison has 600 cells. An underground tunnel links it to another Brussels prison, in Forest.

I suppose all castles are prisons for someone who lives in them. If not the lords and ladies then the servants or gardeners. Or the wench who empties the pots.

I never dreamed prison.

As usual Abraham centered the point. At first (before reading) I thought it could be that fairy tale castle where some pretty lady is sleeping waiting for me ;-)

it looks like a fortified castle, at first look. but now I know it's a jail (600 cells !!) ... I have the same question than Beetle : is it still use as a prison ?

I, too, thought it was a castle. I never imagined a prison looking so nice.

Wow! I, like everyone else, thought "castle".
What a beautiful prison! Although, I'm sure the prisoners think it is the ugliest building in the world! :-)
