The current exhibition on Art Nouveau (a big thing in Belgium) at the Museum of Modern Arts (the Musée Royaux des Beaux-Arts).

Thank you to Denton for posting the Brussels pictures while I am in Berlin. This will be till next Tuesday, so in the meantime I hope you will all appreciate his help and my pictures :)

I have already posted a picture of the Man from Atlantis before. This time though the water fountain worked as well. Probably because it is spring and the chance of the water freezing, small.

Still in Louvain-la-Neuve. Main square. Statue of a couple reading a book. I might be wrong, but I have rarely seen such a peaceful statue. It infused calm just by standing next to it, taking a picture.

Monday, 27 March 2006

The weekend was spent discovering the surroundings of Brussels. Amongst others, Louvain-la-Neuve.

Visiting LLN turned out to be quite an adventure, as the city is a 'ville pietons', which means 'city of pedestrians'. Not knowing this, we tried to go by car into the city. However that's impossible: you constantly turn around in a huge parking which seems to 'guard' the city.

Once in the city, I saw this fist in the wall, on the main square. Very striking. No message, no nothing.

If you ever visit Brussels, then Maison Antoine is a must. Maison Antoine is selling Belgian fries for over 60 years, and they are the best. On weekends count to wait well over 20min to get your fries (even if it is raining) - still traditionally wrapped in paper cones (newspaper has been recently banned).

On a sunnier note, Marieta from South Africa joined the daily blogging community. Welcome!

Experiencing problems with Blogger, and in general it being a cold and grey Sunday, movies were the solution. Styx, an alternative movie theater in Brussels.

An icon I so much admire. I think everyone should watch 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' once in their lifetime.
Little known, Audrey Hepburn was born in Brussels. Her parents left Belgium when she was 4.

And they say all roads lead to Rome :) In Brussels, all roads lead to one or the other European institution.
Let me also welcome Bazainville, Kuala Lumpur, Notre Dame de Bondeville, and Venice to the family of daily photo bloggers.

I just really liked these statues on the balcony of an unknown building. They seem to be carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Happy Birthday Paris

Although I am actually in Paris at the moment, I thought it would be nice to 'celebrate' the Paris Daily Blog - a starter of trends! - by showing there is a little bit of Paris everywhere. Happy First Birthday Paris Blog!
I hope to discover Paris with the help of Eric for many years to come. Thank you for a great first year in pictures.

I passed by this shop the other day and I found the announcement to be very original. I wonder what will happen to all the models and toys in the shop?

Hence my new URL, which will hopefully keep all the images stored so far, is now
