For two days only the Provence came to Brussels. Saturday and Sunday everyone around the Grand Place enjoyed fields of lavender, the smells and products made of it ... and generally a whole Provence atmosphere. Happy Monday everyone.
I am sorry I end the week with such a strikingly sad picture ... I came across it on my way to work and I was just shocked by the power of this call for help.
Now if anyone can tell me what this Kafka Index is all about ... I'd be very grateful.

For one Sunday I will step away from the usual graffiti, and introduce to you ... Gaston Lagaffe. Started by Franquin in 1960, Gaston Lagaffe is a constant presence on the Belgian cartoon scene. I understand there is a certain particularity about the numbering of the cartoon books, yet I haven't been able to decipher it yet.
In lack of sun and summer, and the constant rain, an older picture of a very 60's alien looking bulding.
I went to a cocktail last night ... whilst next door, it seems a mystery party was going on.

Back from almost a week of experiencing the Route des Vins in Alsace ... where you can guess, we tasted a lot of the local wines (as listed above: Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and the Muscat).
And, whilst finishing the rally, but starting a new week, I leave you with this peaceful village picture where you can almost hear the time go by.
A faithfull friend during the rally ... whilst discovering strange little things in the oddest places: quiant village gardens! Hmmm, and they say village life is boring :)
Wavre: between donkeys and horses, this set of table and chairs seemed so out of place yet so at home.
To add to the discoveries during the rally, Rixensart seems to be home to the longest pencil in the world - as confirmed by this Guiness Book of Records note ... Who would have guessed?
First stop on our rally the Ferme des Templiers, dating back to the 17th and 18th century. Belonging to the Knights Templar, and later to the Knights of Malta, the farm is pure history.
Let me take you now on a trip through time and history.
I sometimes divert my attention to one thing in particular, and it seems everywhere I look I see just that: interesting and amazing doors handles. There was the lace door handle, the snake door handle, and just recently the child door handle.
I posted many times on Brussels and art nouveau movement it is known for. Some beautiful examples are these stairs, the Victor Horta house, and the current exhibition on art nouveau.
This weekend all of Brussels will be out, enjoying the annual Brussels Jazz Marathon.
I passed by this record store and found the idea of only red covers to be great. Anything you like?

Back to weird Brussels now ... A very 'space' bench I came across. Not only does it look alien (anyone knows what it could be?), but there are also very strange noises coming through the red button you see in the middle ... alien invasion?
Well, no, actually I do not (know). Must be something for the shoe designer in Bazainville? :)
The world was rushing by, yet nothing seemed to phase this girl. I just hope we can all have such a quiet and peaceful week ahead :)
On my way home from a quite late party on Friday night, we came across this little man. Needless to say the different positions and lightning we tried till the picture was complete. You have to understand, this little man is a tiny drawing on an electricity box.
Do you sometimes have that feeling that we are just not doing enough? I have never been a hard core activist, but there are principles I stand for and Human Rights is one of them. That's why I admire Amnesty International.
For something different this weekend, why not go to the Festival de Court Metrage taking place here in the heart of Brussels?
Now ... one bottle of Prosecco for the person who guesses where my Italian trip was :) . I thought I'll skip the usual Brussels post for one day and bring some Italian sunshine to this blog!
Just to give you a taste of the Grand Place ... once I get one of those fancy cameras, trust me there will be plenty more pictures of the amazing architecture of the Grand Place.
