I have not written a lot of explanations on the previous photos.
The Abbye de la Cambre (the monastery of La Cambre) dates back to 1200. In that year a certain Dame Gisele wanted to join the Rule of St. Benedict, however faced strong opposition.
Henry I grants her right in the cause and gives her a piece of land next to the Foret de Soignes (the woods). A year later the Abbaye of the Rule of St. Benedict la Cambre is established.
Today the Abbaye de la Cambre hosts the National Geographic Institute, the Higher School of Performing Arts and local monks.
