A much bigger celebration in the USA than in Europe ... yet it seems we are catching up. Here the Halloween display at the Musée d'Art Fantastique (fantasy art). They are running a Halloween special exhibition from the 31 October to 5 November.

In the never-ending series of Brussels statues, here is one in the honour of Edith Cavell. A British nurse, who served in the First World War, she was executed and since became a popular martyr and heroine. Her link with Brussels is quite strong, as she was appointed matron of a hospital in Brussels.

A statue of her can be seen in London in front of the National Portrait Gallery. Maybe Ham could provide us with a Brussels-London link? :)

The Sunday treat. Trust me it is just amazing for me to discover all the different cartoon walls - or murals - in Brussels.

I came across this one just yesterday (still looking for that chandelier...). It portrays Blondin & Cirage a cartoon series created by Jijé. The story of Blondin & Cirage turns around two kids, one white and one black, and was first published in 1939 in the catholic newspaper 'Petits Belges' (Little Belgians).

Other cartoon murals on Brussels Daily Photo, which I know many of you liked, were: Brousialle, Le Chat, Tintin, Monsiuer Jean, the Jeune Albert, the Feather Girl, El Scorpio, secret agent Victor Sackville , Le Passage and recently Quick&Flupke.

This time an indoor photo of a Brussels restaurant, Cosi Cosi. Quite an unusual little place, serving African and Italian food. Located in Matonge, the African quarter I already posted on.

I hoped the rains from Rotterdam will avoid Brussels ... but I have to face reality, and embrace the months of rain to come. What better way then to spend a rainy day/ evening than DVD's and a good, hot cup of tea?

Street signs. I did not think of these as a 'series', but it seems that slowly I am developing an eye for funny street signs. Here, another take on the stop sign. Oh, and I did mention this before: every public posting or writing in Brussel/ Bruxelles needs to be in both Flemish (top) and French (bottom). Or vice versa.

There is my DP and food blogging. I also love ceramics though. I collect ceramic, hand painted plates from around the world. There are some beautiful and unusual plates in my (quite) small collection.

So I could not resist taking a photo of this beautiful Italian plate I saw recently at a fair.

Oh when the saints, oh when the saints, oh when the saints go marching in ... this song was first published in Cincinnati. Later to become a very popular hymn, used at funerals, often called 'jazz funeral'.

97.5% of our planet is water. Yet so few have daily access to clean and healthy drinking water. Over 1 billion people still use unsafe drinking water sources ... so here to a better, water safe world.

I usually save these photos of cartoon walls for the Sunday ... but I'll make an exception for today. Another one of the famous cartoon walls, this time a mural of Quick & Flupke by Herge (the famous creator of Tintin).

The story of Quick & Flupke is based around two kids in Brussels, causing nothing but problems to their parents and the police. Only two of the cartoon books were translated into English, namel 'Double Trouble' and 'Two of a Kind'.

Other cartoon murals on Brussels Daily Photo, which I know many of you liked, were: Brousialle, Le Chat, Tintin, Monsiuer Jean, the Jeune Albert, the Feather Girl, El Scorpio, secret agent Victor Sackville and most recently Le Passage.

As I mentioned yesterday, shopping for antiques is a great indulgence on the weekend. By antiques I mean going to the flea market on Place du Jeu de Balle - a must!, to visiting real antique shops.
As we moved we are currently looking for a couch, a chandelier, a chest drawer etc etc etc more on the chandelier tomorrow!
Strolling on a sunny Sunday through all the antique shops is pure bliss ...

L'art prend le metro - art takes the tube. The artist Marin Kasimir. The tube station: Coovi.

Another unusual tube station in Brussels. This time the artist used panorama techniques in order to bring us in contact with his art, and the reality thereof.

After the Bible, it seems the second best known logo/ word in the world: Coca - Cola. It so happened it is located just next to Ikea (you can detect a certain house-involving-trend...).

I apologize for my current 'disappearance'. If anyone has gone through moving you know what I am talking about. At the moment it’s boxes everywhere and waiting for the Internet, phone, TV connection. I am not sure which one it is most difficult to live without…

The theme day for today TAXIS: I have to repeat a photo I posted already on the 20th February. Taxis in Brussels. You can’t miss them. They are all black Mercedes driving like mad around the city.
